The older ex- Richmond, VA/DCFD Seagrave is still at Leesburg. My understanding is that it will be sold.

Ian may be able to add some additional information on the plans for this truck.

Oh it's definitely for sale! Any takers? We're currently working on a tanker specification for an order to be placed before year's end. We'll be selling one of our Luverne pumper/tankers and replacing it with a unit with a minimum of 2,500 gallons on board. The Reserve Tiller, which we've only used for driver training only, is for sale. Once all this is done, we should have an engine, tanker and truck at each station.

Ian,

That shot of the Fleet would look real good in the Seagrave calendar!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Thumbsup' />

It's back at Ashburn as of Monday...no equipment yet.

Loudoun County,Va. - mnsand - 09-01-2008

I have been posting Loudoun County photos on the Virginia thread, however, since there is a specific thread for Loudoun, I will add a few recent new deliveries.

In 2002, Ashburn placed into service Quint 6, a 2001 Spartan Gladiator/2002 Smeal 75' 1500/500.

This is a scanned photo taken just after delivery back in 2002 - prior to my digital days. Sorry, the yellow color is not as sharp when scanned.

Ashburn's 1996 Pierce Lance rescue engine is in need of replacement, and the decision was made to modify Quint 6 in the previous post to carry extrication equipment for automobile accidents. That work was recently completed by Ferrara.

Quint 6 is now "Truck 6", and a variety of modifications were made to the truck:

-pump and tank removed

-added two 500 watt lights to the ladder tip area - now a total of four for a total of 2000 watts

-added scene lights along the body and compartments on top

-2 roll up doors to carry extrication equipment where numerous tools can be operated at once

-upgraded generator to 15kw

-added winch on the front

-added storage compartment on front bumper for chains, etc.

Those are the highlights....SOP's are being created on the "new" Truck 6

Ashburn has also taken delivery of two new Ford F450/Excellance ambulances. One will be assigned to Station 6 in "downtown" Ashburn and one has been assigned to the Moorefield station.

Ambulance 23-2 at Moorefield was recently placed into service.

During the days, EMS calls in the Ashburn/Sterling area can be quite busy. As a result, an additional ambulance was placed into service at Ashburn's Moorefield Station 23 at the beginning of the summer. Ambulance 23-3, along with a medic unit, is staffed by career personnel from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. After 6:00 p.m., a basic unit runs from Station 23.

Truck 6 is a very nice rig but, i think its going to be tough not to damage those lights on the tip of the aerial when venting windows.

Loudoun County,Va. - mnsand - 09-01-2008

One final update.....the South Riding station has a new Engine 619 in service. It is a 2007 Spartan Gladiator/2008 Ferrara 1500/750 with s/n H-3548. Station 19 is a joint venture between Loudoun County and the Arcola Pleasant Valley VFD (which also operates Station 9). Station 19 has a combination of county owned and volunteer owned apparatus. Engine 619 was purchased by the volunteers.

"The Big Top" on Engine 619 refers to the first Station 19 which was a temporary two bay tent that housed the apparatus. The newer Station 19 is much nicer and is part of the Dulles Safety Center for both fire and sheriff's department.

Pierce or any other manufacturer always gets it "right". The build what the customeer specs. If its wrong, blame the department.

Great Photo's Mike! I like the Quint/Truck 606 before and after shots as well. It also appears they moved the Q down the bumper, and did they change one of the Rotorays lights to Orange? Or is it just the lighting?

Anyway, again, great shots, as always!

Any shots of the inside of the compartments? I.e. the extrocation equipment.

Sharp eye Ben. Yes, the one Roto-Ray light is orange, which matches the Tower (2005 Spartan Gladiator/Ferrara 1500/50 100').

A new arrival has come to Purcellville Fire: Soon to be the new Engine2. The current Engine2 ('99 Quantum) will become Reserve Engine2. Sorry for the bad lighting but was there for a meeting and didn't expect to see the new piece in house (Going to Singer's real soon). So I grabbed these out of timing and the meeting I was there for is for my station's website which is getting a serious overhaul. More to follow either here or at purcellvillefire.org

till next round and stay safe!

#1: The center portion of the bumper houses a winch mount (one of three total) and a connection for an extrication tool.

#2: Driver side of the piece on the apron.

#3: Officer side shot. My station opted for the traditional rear compartment and the space above the camera is for the blitzfire.

That's a nice looking rig. Did you by chance get a pic of the rear?

Loudoun County,Va. - dawson_fire - 09-12-2008

I can't say that I have ever seen the air horns out that far on the corners before. Nice ride though!!!
