My Pirsch list shows a 1984 delivery of a Model CAN8 110' rearmount. The last Rochester rig on the list is the 1972 TDA. City Of Rochester, NY Fire Apparatus - flashover71 - 06-18-2014 right that rig would have been truck2/1 tiller. i dnt ever recall any other pirsch's after that!!! Different warning lights on the front. Same truck? Unknown photographer. City Of Rochester, NY Fire Apparatus - GA_Dave - 06-18-2014 Quote:Thanks for adding the pic, John. Definitely not the same rig. The Gates rig has the Skytop 110' aerial and doesn't have a pump like the other one does. At this point, I have no clue about the rig flashover71 posted. Guess I'll just shut up and go sit in a corner..... City Of Rochester, NY Fire Apparatus - flashover71 - 06-19-2014 a friend of mine on the rfd said it was out of truck 9 but i know that isnt so, the last rig truck 9 had was a grumman with a 100' fire spire aerial and no pump, so we are butting heads over that one, and someone else said it ran out of truck 11 in charlotte for a very short period but i dont remember that either, they used the ward la france quint till they got the E\-One quint. City Of Rochester, NY Fire Apparatus - flashover71 - 12-13-2014 I was up in rochester for thanksgiving week not much action and the didn't get many photos due to the fact that most of the rfd was running reserves but i was able to catch one run on evergreen st. I'm not taking shots against who's calling the shots or who's in charge, but I am still a believer in the Quint/Midi concept that Lennie Huether developed. Very well said and your right the cost will be high in lives and dollars. City Of Rochester, NY Fire Apparatus - flashover71 - 12-14-2014 I agree I seen the changes from engine and truck to quint and midi and back, I always thought Len Huther was a innovator, and he knew that he had to do more for less and it worked. Now after being away from rochester for 5 years I seen the way the reorganization screwed the city up, for example truck companies were reduced from 9 to 6 so now you have a further distance for a truck Co to have to respond to. Taking a truck Co out of Charlotte was not planned right cause it takes truck 2 about 5 to 7 minutes more to get the first in truck Co, and depending on the weather conditions could take longer. Now I would have kept a truck there especially since there are 2 high rises not even a quarter mile from quarters with one being across the street, and a large nursing home about a mile and a half away. With the quint/midi system there was a truck in every section of the city. City Of Rochester, NY Fire Apparatus - flashover71 - 12-21-2014 Old truck 2 sitting in a junkyard in bergen ny I wanted to get the front end to do my bar but the guy wanted almost a thousand dollars, and wanted four hundred for head and warning light bezels.
