Good stuff Jeremy. If I may add some information:

E31 is being replaced with a Pierce Arrow XT 105' Quint that has been ordered. This rig will then move to reserve. For a commecial chassis, this rig has held up very well.

Q33 is a '99 E\-One CII

E34 also has CAFS

RE38 is one of 2 twins and formerly served as E01, E04, E104 and E34 before being placed in reserve. Its twin, former E03, was kept exclusively to be used for parts for RE38. These rigs were closely modeled after the Windcrest E\-One Hush delivered shortly before these were ordered.

RE39 also is reported to be the first rig built with a production 6V92TA engine. It wasn't restricted and this rig still flies down the road to this day. This rig also caught fire from an improperly installed Sig-Tronics intercom system when it was less than 2 years old suffering interior cab damage. It also had the distinction of having the body break loose from its brackets and end up resting on the discharge piping.

Just some details.

TEXAS RIGS - jbrown9079 - 10-04-2008

Thanks for the corrections Larry.

I was told by the mechanic that the 88 Arrow had a V8

and not a V6. He also said that the truck needed wings cause

that truck would fly.

TEXAS RIGS - Ladder 68 - 10-04-2008

110% correct Jeremy and typo on my part. It was reported to be the first production 8V92TA. I have ridden on that thing and it was almost fast enough for some Maryland and Virginia departments. Ha ha.

I'm trying to figure out the year model of E31.

You working? About time for a burner in SLFD isn't it?

TEXAS RIGS - jbrown9079 - 10-04-2008

Yup, on a shift now. Backside of the 48/96. Been doin that for couple of months. Start my 96 off in the morning. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

And yes its been slow here, but on the northside it's a different story.

I know when you tell that to Chief Woolley somethin happens. He's took vacation time today. I guess all bet's are off. HA!

Finally get to start taking pics again, had my camera along with the laptop stolen out of my truck. You need to see Champions new station, oh yeah, and FINALLY they poured the slap for station 1.

TEXAS RIGS - Ladder 68 - 10-04-2008

Yeah, when my buddy BC Wooley is off things happen. Sorry to hear about your camera and lap top.

Champions needed a new station really bad didn't they? Ha ha. But when they keep buying rigs they need some place to store them. Ha ha.

Speaking of north side, soon T61 is going to be Richmond T01. Can't believe it. Needed an aerial on the west of the county for a LONG time.

I heard that E03 caught some work in Jamaica Beach the other day. Smoked Galveston E7 and E8 into their own territory.

Any news on the new E01? Specs finalized yet?

Be safe Brother, see you at the big one.

TEXAS RIGS - jbrown9079 - 10-04-2008

E1 spec's will be very close to E3's. The notable difference's will be that the pump house will be inclosed with roll-up doors, on a Classic Gladiator and a Harrison Generator. Should be ordered soon. Already went to Spartan for meetings. Have not heard a delivery date yet.

North Harris County has some new trucks also.

Westfield bought a 75ft Velocity demo (replacing 84 Arrow) and ordered an Impel (replacing either the 97 or 99 Saber).

Champions is about to recieve (2) Velocity PUC's (E11, E12). One will fit in the current station, no room for the other till the new station is complete. From I hear, the PUC's will be the first with painted 111 mirrors and not chrome. Should be interesting.

Klein ordered a new Heavy Rescue on an Arrow XT (R33), recently put an new rehab from Ferrara inservice (Rh35), Morrison is assembling a new booster (B36).

Eastex has a new quint on order for a new station.

Little York has a new Velocity Engine (E81) and a Quint (L84) inservice.

Aldine- wait and see. Chief wants an Engine, Rescue and a Midmount.

Ponderosa has the tower and also I believe engine on order. Pierce of course!!

TEXAS RIGS - Ladder 68 - 10-04-2008

Well with that run down Martin can keep the lights on for a while. Should pay the bills nicely. Ha ha.

I like the layout of SLFD E03 and the roll-up covering the pump panel is a good idea. We contemplated the same thing on new E21 but it was too late in the game and would have been a significant change. It will most likely be on our next one also.

Be safe.

Sugar Land Engine (Spartan/Crimson). Sorry for the lighting. Taken at FEMA debris pile fire a few nights ago.

Feel free to add specifics Jeremy.

With these Missouri City rigs, i thought I bring you a blast from the past. A Missori City rig, looks like a mini or midi, operating in a mutual aid capacity at the famous (in the Houston area) Woodway Square fire in 1979. No further info on the rig. More pics of the Woodway Sq fire over on Fire Scene.

Good stuff Joe. I have a book on the Woodway Square Fire. MCFD sent an Engine Co. to the fire in addition to this mini-pumper. As a point of note, Stafford also sent a pumper and brought with it the largest supply line on the fireground, 3" hose. My how times have changed. The HFD District Chiefs didn't now what to do with it since it was different from the 2-1/2" hose everyone else had. In the end the Stafford pumper wound up supplying a portable monitor and tele-squrt.
