Was she put into service as Engine 9 in 2007? Also Medford doesnt have any spare engines correct? They do thou have Spare Ladder 3 correct?

-John
The Former Engine 1, 1995 E\-One is lettered as Engine 7, which would be a spare, and they possibly still have the former Engine 3, 1977 Mack CF. Ladder 3, the E\-One rear mount, former Ladder 2, is the spare truck, and I'm not sure if Ladder 3, the CF Tower Ladder is still around to be loaned out.

Not sure of the exact date she went into service, but I'd say sometime in 2006.

I know they used to have spare engine, Engine 3 a 1987 Pierce Arrow, but again, I'm not sure if thats still the case.
Engine 3 is not a spare, it's a roster company, but everyone usually gets detailed out because of sick calls, vacations, etc. When there is a full compliment it is in service.

Chelsea's Ladder 3 is running as Ladder 1. Our Tower Ladder is out of service at the dealer, due to hydraulic problems. Everett's Ladder is out of service at the dealer long term due to a ladder pipe issue at a fire in the winter early spring sometime.

Anyone know anything about this? An old Peabody rig being restored as a parade rig perhaps?
i believe that it is owned by Peabody firefighters relief association. I believe that it is former engine 3 that ran from the former engine house on Endicott street.

Thanks for posting my newest vehicle. It has been converted into a mobile canteen and is equipped with the famous "DR device"--a custom 5 burner BBQ Gill built on a Ferno ambulance stretcher. also on board is a hot dog steamer, coffee maker, microwave, freezer chest (loaded with burgers/dogs and Ice), tables, benches, food service equipment and all the fixings, a permanently mounted Diesel generator and a MASH style commissary tent and even more...!!! As you said I have assigned this unit number EM50. (Emergency Meals)

I believe this is the rig you are speaking of. I was up for the LODD's of the Boston Jakes. Grabbed quick shot, not the best but you get what you can and hope for better in the future. It's in the rear of Peabodys station 3. Not in bad shape. A little elbow grease would remove a lot of the rust.

Thanks for all the info! I was surprised to see this rig considering the workout Peabody's rigs get and the length of time this was in service...I figured it was scrapped looong ago.

Looks like it will clean up nicely!

Oddly enough when I spotted this rig sitting out back, I was on my way to Borders on 114 to pick of the "Peabody Firefighting" book, in which this very rig is pictured. Great book by the way, learned lots of neat little tidbits, and saw some great photos too.

I always liked that little Ford/E-One engine Medford ran, I think it was a '77 and was similar to the two, two door Ford/E-One's Waltham has/had.

They had an older tiller as well, that was re-tractored with a Mack MC that was unique looking. Now neither of these rigs would win a beauty contest, but I liked them because they were different...and lime, lol.

I didn't really mean if they could use the spare ladder I actually was asking about the size issue and the spares...
