Quote:I believe that Theile is/was a Johnstown area builder of truck bodies that also built fire apparatus back in the 50's - Dr. Stinebaugh can probably provide more details on this.
Yes, and that would fit in with the Mercersburg connection as they are both in that part of the state.

This is what little I have on this outfit, which seemed to copy Bruco's products. Thiele's whole product line seemed to compete with both Bean and Bruco, both of whom did major business in this area.

I have to believe that Mercersburg's IH  is also the rig in the above ad.

I have never seen another Thiele product, whether it be a new full-size rig, a FOG-KAR, or a rebuild of any type, I think the rebuild program was the last gasp of the company.

IMO, this makes the 1st Gear model of this engine even more valuable, being from such an obscure builder.

anybody have any more information about the town of Centralia, PA?? any photos of the other apparatus or photo(s) of the firehouse etc.????  I saw that story on TV and I was fascinated by the whole thing. They did mention on the program (don't remember if it was the history channel or what?? that they still did have an active fire department, but I was unable to find anything on the internet about them) any information you guys might have would be fantastic.

THEY STILL HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL ENGINE AND AN AMBULANCE. IT DOESN'T RUN MANY CALLS THOUGH FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND.

I think they may have merged with Aristes FC (to the north)

I know many of the fire fighters run in neighboring towns fire departments

I have heard that that ambulance is gone, and the ambulance from Mount Carmel is running anything out there.  The engine is still there.  I will have to scan my picture of the station when I get a chance, and I will have to go down through there on my way to my mom's sometime soon and get more pics of the station.  Oddly, there is only about 5 houses left and noone seems to ever have anything to do with the fire company.  And the neighboring companies never seem to know anything about them and claim they don't run anymore, but yet i know they are dispatched and respond on calls.  Engine 341  1985 International/KME 1000/750
