A wise man once told me "Wagons are for hauling hay and Engines are for Firefighting!!!" I always hated the Wagon Term because to be honest what it was traditionaly used for has changed ie the Hose is carried with a pump, water tank and etc.
I hear you on the Tower subject, Chief. To have called the prior Tower 13 or Tower 12 a "Truck" was way off..... But I still miss it being called 10 and 12 instead of 510 and 512. Just my opinion! Peace Nate Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - photone - 06-14-2009
Good Photo. I don't think this was Norfolk, VA. They used white rigs back when this ride was made and photo taken. Maybe Mass!
Ya Beat me to it John! Norfolk did indeed run white rigs back in the day, and had a slew of American LaFrances. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think there were a few Seagraves in the mix as well. In the late 70's early 80's The city purchased a Seagrave tractor to replace one of the American LaFrance tractors that was involved in an accident and then purchased a rear mount 100' aerial on a wide vision low profile classic. These have long gone. One is the old one, right Seagrave and the New one on left, E\-One I don't have any other that show Seagrave Norfolk was a large user of American LaFrance over the years. Not to say that no one else was there, Mack, Oren, FWD and others were in the fleet back in the day.
