gentlemen just wondering if anyone had a rundown of what stlfd vehicles were involved in the pile up downtown.Ben im sure you were able to get the word on everything. Just an FYI word is that smeal who i sell for up here in illinois is going to have at least one of the new city engines on display. If anyone is going to FDIC from here i think we should meet somewhere to get a firepics group shot. Rob

I believe it was Pumper 7 and 29. also medic 13 and 2. and car 704 which i think is ems supervisor...

Rob JM82, Davedubo, and I will be at FDIC. Its the yearly ritual of recharging the battery's after a year of dealing with LOAF's League Of Average Firefighters. PM me.

E7 messed up the ladder tip and smashed the windshield when it hit E29 which sent it into M13. M13 has damage to rear and sides.
Word on the street is that E5 and E36 ae getting shut down within the month. So they may be the "new" E7 and E29.

My Dad says its tradition for the 8's to get the first new pumper just because they have the smallest house in the city. Albeit a very nice looking house!

Update:
Brentwood has changed to 4-digit numbering system. 411=2514, 412=2590, 407=2517, 497=2597.
Pacific has placed in service 6114. Pierce Arrow XT PUC
Valley Park 1924 is due in 2 weeks. Here is an older drawing of the new 1924. We have since made it a raised cab with light tower. Ill take it out once we get it for some good pictures

Is Pacific 6114 the former 6123 PUC, or did they get another PUC? I didn't see a new Pacific rig in the 'New Deliveries' section of Pierce's website, but I'll check again.

Yes. They ordered a second one to replace 6116. I believe they are selling on of the mini rescues.

Help me out with the four digit numbers - I'm sure that there is some rhyme or reason to them, but unless you're intimately familiar with the system, it appears that it would be hard to tell what type of apparatus that 1412 is versus 6016....

Not being from the St. Louis area, and anybody from there can correct me, the first 2 digits are a department number, the next number is the station they are assigned, and the last number is either a company number, or an apparatus type, not really sure. Corrections are welcome

You are correct: the last digit tells you what type of apparatus it is.
0 - Pumper
1 - Pumper
2 - Aerial
3 - Tanker
4 - Rescue Pumper (i.e. pumper equipped with vehicle extrication tools)
5 - Rescue Quint
6 - Rescue Truck
7 - Ambulance
8 - Brush fire rig
9 - Utility vehicle
Now, if the 3rd digit is a 9, then it's some type of reserve vehicle
Examples: 2394 means it's Creve Coeur Fire District's reserve pumper with vehicle extrication tools
2597 means it's Brentwood Fire Department's reserve ambulance

It's easy once you get used to it. I like it and think it's much more of an organized system than what the former system was prior to the 1989 inception of 4 digits.

For the life of me I've never understood what's wrong with simply saying Anytown Engine 1. Some times it seems like people simply want to justify their existence by dreaming things up.

kinda what i was thinking Wagonman....where i grew up is was Engine 11, E-12, E-21...etc where the first digit was the company 4 (the town had four) and the second was the unit #. and engine is and engine...ladder or truck a ladder and rescue a rescue.......i really do subscribe to the KISS principle

I have another update for all you guys going to FDIC this year. In addition to st. louis city's new Pumper being there, rumor also has it that our new 100' platform will be there also! my dad says it will be but we will wait and see!

With the amount of departments in the St. Louis Metro and the excellent mutual aid agreements, a more organized numbering system was needed.
The new Pacific 6114 was ordered with Valley Park 1924. The main difference in the two trucks will be Valley Park has a raised cab (and of course color.) Both trucks are 1000gal water and 30gal foam. Pacific now has two nearly identical Pierce Arrows inservice as 6114 and 6124.

From my understanding, Pacific House 1 will have 6114, 6112 and 6115. 6114 will handle the EMS runs. The current 6116 will move to house 2 in Robertsville and 6126 will be sold.
