Norfolk was my last stop of the day. They could not have been more hospitable, even though it was close to dinner time! There are six towns/six municipal fire departments on Martha's Vineyard Island plus a fire station at the airport that's manned by airport staff when needed, and a station at the state forest that is staffed (and equipped) seasonally. The six towns have nine stations total and operate a very unique mix of old and new apparatus. All of the departments are all-volunteer, but every Sunday at 10am all the apparatus is pulled out, started up, and driven around during the island-wide fire "radio-check." If you can't make it on Sunday mornings, there are often firefighters hanging around the stations and in several communities full-time-paid ambulance crews also operates out of the fire station so you can usually get in and take a peek. I wasn't able to make it out there this summer (no rest for the weary), but hopefully next season... I'm eager to see/photograph Tisbury's new Bronto skylift and Oak Bluffs' new Metz aerial (that replaced a beautiful 195os era open-cab Maxim)! Anyone happen to have any pictures? Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Guest - 09-25-2007 Here is Orleans' primary engine, Engine 175 (out of service when Matt was in over the weekend) A 2001 KME- 1500 gpm/750gwt/30A We are anticipating the delivery of a Sutphen 70+ platform next summer sometime as a replacement to Ladder 176 and a new ambulance as well. I would like to welcome Firepixers down to the Cape, I know there are several of us from the various departments on here, If you are headed down this way, Let us know! I see the tractor, but looks like the midmount is there too.[/quote] I was pretty sure the cut in half-midmount was Peabodys but I was told Otherwise. if you look closely in the pic you see what apperars to be scorch marks by the Jump seat. It resembles those seen in Post 27 of this thread. I looked at the pics side by Side and The cabinet shaps and # match as do the ladder be assembly. The Control box on the turntable matchs and the ladder apears to be the same one But I could be wrong Guys anyone else agree? |
