I'm not sure I like this idea. For transit buses, and select ambulances, it makes sense. But for a fire engine? I can't  see it really making a difference, and it must be expensive to purchase and maintain.

I think it's a great idea, help get those hose beds lower.  And there really isn't much more maintenance as evidenced by the common usage on busses, ambulances, etc.  Simple and reliable system.

Depending on the kneeling system, they can be problematic.  I personally have seen lots of problems with air bag systems...the "Liquid Spring" system seems to be a lot more reliable, at least here in a major urban EMS system here in the Northeast.  As far as fire apparatus go, I would think that a full booster tank, hose load, tool load, especially if a rescue pumper, would be a lot of weight.  Technology is great, but sometimes it would seem too much is no good at all.  Guess we'll see.
