One of the highest concentratons of Volunteer Fire Departments in Texas is in the suburban Houston area. These departments serve a mix of diverse hazards ranging from urban, suburban, and semi-rural areas with the usual mixture of residential and retail developments up to full-fledged petrochemical plants and freeway interchanges.

I got a new slide scanner for Christmas, so I am digitizing portions of my slide collection, most of which were taken in the late 1990s to about 2008.

I will begin with one of my favorites, the Klein Volunteer Fire Dept.

Another VFD with great-looking rigs is the North Montgomery County VFD, located north of Conroe along Interstate 45. This department is famous for their blue apparatus.

Isn't this the one and only CF that belonged to Chicago? I have some vague memory of a discussion on the old email list about this rig.

The Needham VFD (formerly called the "Needham Road VFD") is located along and east of Interstate 45, south of Conroe, in Montgomery County.

I hadn't heard that, but certainly possible. The serial number is confirmed, so anyone who may have shot that rig in Chicago can compare to verify.
