Now that I've been putting this rig back in shape, figured it'd be good to start my own thread. She's safely tucked away in the shop, got a new pair of CJ184 beacons on, if the weather holds out we'll be painting the doors next week. Targt date is to be at the ATCA Truck Show in Macungie on 16 June.

1st bump in what was so far a smooth restoration road; the right side door latch mechanism is pretty much toast. Took it out, probably been welded more times that I can count, by what appears to be a not so good welder. Anybody gat a spare Seagrave cab laying around I can scam a latch off of?

This guy is a little pricey but may have it

Is that guy even stil in business? The owner drowned in florida 2 years ago. I personally have issue with someone who buys good working rigs to strip them to sell the parts and engines to trucking businesses, cutting the chassis and bodies up and selling them for the cost of steel and aluminum.. There are plenty of poor vounteer departments that could use what he is buying for his profit.

He sells a lot of stuff on EBay. Often overpriced..........

looked this guy up, lots of good stuff, prices didn't seem that outrageous, but the phone number listed isn't any good. (?) So, quest is still on..........

Email him thru his EBay lister email aka "contact the seller"

I like the old Federal Intercepter siren! Classic.

Hey George. Any updates on the rearmount?

Pat, as usual on a project like this, one thing opened up shows 2 other things that need to be done. My guy doing the paint work convinced me to take the lights out of the front, which showed 2 pieces that had to be rechromed. I took the right door apart to replace the broken glass, and the door latch fell apart, now I need the latch. The guy that does the radio work for our fire department dropped off a VHF-Low band radio he took out of our 81 Hahn, so now I'm gonna put that in. Lot's of little stuff, but it all adds up. That's why my target date for it's first show is Wheaton Village in August. But on the other hand, your rig is looking awesome!

I always thought the Seagrave "Rear Admiral" was the model with the rear steering axle (not very many produced.) Can anyone confirm/deny and or educate me?

West Chester's Fame 1973 Rear Admiral did not.

I understood it just to mean it was a "rear mount" aerial.

Unless another "gotcha surprise" happens today or tomorrow, the Seagrave will be at the Delaware Valley Fire Muster & Show, Cooper River Park, Pensauken, NJ on Sunday.

Awesome. Can't wait to see photos.

Great day at Cooper River Park today. Had a minor electrical problem with the truck, but an alert spectator pointed out a broken wire on the alternator, a quick "McGuyver repair" fixed it. Next show is Wheaton Village in 2 weeks. Would love to post some pictures, but my skills are lacking.

With the groundhog saying that spring is almost here, thoughts turn to getting the Admiral out on the road. But, maintence comes first. Found the obvious fuel filter, don't think it has an oil filter, nothing even remotely resembling one to be seen. Its common knowledge that Mack will serve an owner u pictures, build data, and service info for any rig with a serial number, is anyone aware of Seagrave providing a similar service? Thanks in advance for any help!
