We got word this morning that the ALF plant in Jedburg/Summerville was served with eviction papers today from the Sherriff's Dept. I will post more info when I hear.

American LaFrance News - 201/65 - 04-27-2012

Shouldn't be suprising. They were removed from the LTI facility in PA a few weeks ago.

American LaFrance News - LeadOff - 04-28-2012

I don't get it. ALF was at the FDIC just a little over a week ago to make sure everyone knew they were still around and kicking. Everybody saw Smeal's new Sentron II cab/chassis which is actually an ALF Eagle chassis with a different facia and Smeal's name on it. Now this rather interesting news that ALF has been kicked out of the facilities they were leasing in Summerville SC and Ephrata PA. WTF is going on here!?!?

I dont know whats happening in the old LTI plant, but for the SC plant, I know they were in the news about a year, maybe 2 years ago about a big court battle with the landlord over failure to pay the rent and failure to pay for modifications/alterations to the building that the landlord had to do for them, as part of the negotiated lease (I believe ALF had to pay the landlord back for the modifications/alterations) and never did, so the landlord sued them, won the case, and ALF was ordered to pay back millions. My guess is that they obvously never did that; evictions can take up to a year to get in order and serve.

Web site down again

American LaFrance News - LeadOff - 06-16-2012

There is a sign that is currently out in front of the ALF-LTI facility in Ephrata, PA that reads:

"ALF IS MOVING

SPACE AVAILABLE AUG 1

65K SQFT

WILL SUBDIVIDE

CALL 717-XXX-XXXX"

They may be moving up to the Lebanon PA facility that ALF owns, assuming they still own it. The Lebanon facility was originally the Aerial Innovations production facility (after it moved from Reinholds PA) that went over to ALF after AI and ALF went together (under Freightliner) and the AI name went away. Lebanon later became an ALF Aerials (aka LTI) rebuild/service facility that was eventually closed in 2008 when ALF was reorganized following bankruptcy. I know that ALF continued to own the Lebanon facility up until recently anyway so maybe that's where they will go. On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if the sign changed to a going out of business/fire sale sign!

American LaFrance News - LeadOff - 06-19-2012

Well, ALF-LTI won't be moving up to Lebanon, they sold that facility about 6 months ago. My buddy next door (works for Crimson/Spartan ERV and a former long time employee of LTI) told me the land lord has had it with ALF not paying rent on time and missing payments altogether. ALF has to the end of July to vacate the facility. The question is not just where are they moving to but is their really a move planned at all. The end may be near.

For some reason, I'm not the least bit surprised.

American LaFrance News - tntway - 06-24-2012

ALF had ONE piece at the New England Chief's show. i didn't get a good look at it but i think it was a 100' RM stick

American LaFrance News - hadg317 - 06-25-2012

Come to think of it I don't know if they had any at the New York State Chiefs show a couple weeks ago.

American LaFrance News - 201/65 - 06-27-2012

For the ridiculous cost of the NYS Chiefs show and the extremely low turnout I wouldn't blame any manufacturer from not wasting money there.

Alf will apparently from a reliable source be building all the apparatus in South Carolina. However, all the employee say they fear going to work each day, because they do not know what day they will be getting there pink slips. Such a shame, they made great apparatus for years, and now we only have to wait till the day they close for good.

That doesn't sound good for the company nor worker morale.

The stainless plant is ALF's former Hamburg N.Y. facility which is about 150 miles west of Elmira.

Thank you for the correction.

American LaFrance News - hadg317 - 07-23-2012

As far as I know the original plant in Elmira was torn down years ago.
