Good to see it at it's new home. I've been in, on, and around this thing several times, as my friend (and fellow board member) Bill Jones was the care-taker of this for several years after the owner fell ill. He drove it to work for the guys on my shift to see once, good times!

Here's a pic of it at the 2010 Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, VA...

I too have been in and on this ride too. I didn't know Charlie had sold it, but hope it will be in good hands and taken care of.

Yeah the new owner goes to every Local Parade and Musters in the Central PA area. It will be out on the circuit. I will update as he finds more equipment for it. Today it had a radiator hose that got to close to a pully and developed a leak as he pulled into the muster. Stayed after to help him get it back in service along with many other friends who offered their help.

Anyone know the history on this rig? Also any other Mack/Gerstenslagers out there? C or CF Macks?

1963 C Model Mack/Gerstenslager Rescue - Guest - 07-24-2011

Also any one have pics of it when it was in service? Any idea what lighting was on the rear before the Whelen light bar was added?

Need to get some raidos to fill those holes in the dash. Im betting the rear lights were originally just 2 sealed beam Unity lights simular to the white ones that are still there.

Awesome looking rig!

1963 C Model Mack/Gerstenslager Rescue - hadg317 - 07-26-2011

Are the red/white lights in that bezel original? They remind me more of something that would be on a Hahn not a Mack C.

The Lynn Mack C Rescue was on Ebay a few years ago. It was in those woods up in N.H. Seller said the motor still ran well......Unfortunately, someone had CUT OUT the "LYNN" FD logos that were on the doors and the front of the rig. Didn't paint over it, just cut it right out......... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/machinegun.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Machinegun' />

I remember seeing that rig every year when the muster was held at Croton Point Park - That rig was in-service well into the late 80's, if I recall correctly. Croton had some neat rigs - Macks and Maxims, squad benches over the hose beds, very well maintained rigs.

Whats really cool about this one is even though it was updated (auto trans, rear lights, etc) the classic look was maintained - wasnt all cut up for the sake of change.

The Croton rescue and Palmyra NJ's CF rescue - two of the best looking rigs, classic rescues. I gotta look and see if I have any old pics from Croton.

Thanks for the photo tour. The older tools and equipment are an awesome touch.
