Insurance can run under 200 bucks a year. There are a lot of places who will insure an antique rig. In NYS, it would be considered "historical", and you can use old plates from that respective year. I did check with NYS DMV on my 1980 Mack. Depending on the weight, you may need a higher class license. I already have a "B" with air brake endorsements, and interstate travel so I have no problem with mine. Check with your Dept of Motor Vehicles for better info. Hope this helps. Good Luck. 1969 american lafrance fire truck - Guest - 04-06-2007 I bought my 71 ALF for $3100.00 and it is in pretty decent shape. 1969 american lafrance fire truck - Truckman - 04-06-2007 That is a loaded question my friend. Without knowing any more about it I wouldn’t know right now. Is it a tractor drawn apparatus? Is it a mid mount straight chassis? Is it a rear mount aerial? Is the aerial ladder still operable? When was it last certified? What shape is the engine and transmission in? How about the rear end? How about the surface, paint, any rust?? How are the tires? Any damage from an accident. How long has it been sitting? Has it been taken care of?? So you can see a lot of questions need to be addressed before any one can really give you a good answer.
