1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 01-06-2007 I should have put my Crown in this group originally but by accident put it in with the other apparatus thread, rookie mistake. But here is some pics on the Crown taken today while we had it out for a run and taken in a bay and on the apron thanks to the officers and firefighters of Oldsmar FD. They were great to be around and we chatted quite a bit. One of the firemen lived in California for some time and remembers Crowns. It was a great day for pics. Here is some info on the Crown. • 50’ ladder • Re-conditioned in 1997 * Total Hours: 2218 • Allison automatic transmission * Total Miles: 17,527 • Waterous 2 stage 1500 gpm pump • Detroit Diesel 8V 71 • 35’ & 14’ ground ladders • Q2 siren, air horn • 2.5 gallon water extinguisher • 4 ISI low pressure SCBA’s • 2 ladder belts • Milwaukee 110 vac sawzall • 2 21/2” play pipe nozzles w/1 1/8” smooth bore-tips • Hebert hose clamp • Angus storz by 4 21/2” outlet manifold • Super vac electric smoke ejector • Trumpet utility bar • 12 ton hydraulic bottle jack • 20 lb. Dry chemical extinguisher • Motorola MCX 1000 radio • Firecom 3000 intercom system w/4 headsets • 1 straight pry bar • Canvas hose bed covers • Regular maintenance and service performed, records available ** Thanks to the Carmel FD and Crown Firecoach Enthusiasts for copies of spec sheets, pictures ( open and closed cab ), and tons of other great information !! PS: I will attach one pic first, see how the resolution is, and then attach a couple others, when I post pics to this group they tend to come out huge, and just recently figured out how to downsize them. Neat stuff. I got alot of copies to make. We need to get you done to Tampa. Nice weather, the beaches, just like if you were home 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 01-06-2007
Thanks, and I got a great package in the mail today. Had to change out the batteries for the truck. They were in bad shape when the truck was delivered in Dec. And thru today they did OK. However while driving home the gauges showed thet were about to go bad. So rather play it safe, out with the old, in with the new. Nice weather, the beaches, just like if you were home
Florida sounds nice right about now. I didn't make it down there when you all held the last SPAAMFAA National Muster. A road trip may be in order, if we ever have time! (Minus the Squrt; it's going far enough this year!) <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 01-07-2007 Wow Frank! She is coming along great! she looks really nice! I did not realize that it used to be an open top/convertible, I bet she would look really nice without the top! (I like open top Crowns) Congrats on the nice Squrt! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 01-07-2007
Wow Frank! Yep, it was an open cab, the CFE archivist found some pics of it in open cab form, and one, also open cab, even before it was lettered for the FD, really cool. I am taking the Mrs. out today for a little ride "around the block" to see what she thinks. She's been wanting to get in it ever since it arrived. The open cab idea would be nice if the weather here, meaning not so much rain, as it is in Calif., then trust me that top would be gone by now. I might still consider it if I could find the emergency lights for the top of the truck. If and when the day comes and I get a second truck ( I'd still like to have a Mack ), use that when the weather is bad. 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 01-18-2007 The Crown will get to attend it's first club function on Sunday as we will be attending a car show. This car club group came up to visit us during the summer and it was a good time. Now they are having their huge show and asked us to attend. Be curious to see what people say when they see the Crown for the first time. 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 02-02-2007
The Crown will get to attend it's first club function on Sunday as we will be attending a car show. While doing the annual servicing on it we saw some pinholes near the top cap. Well upon further inspection they were worse than we all thought. The good news is the rest of the truck recd all new oils, filters, etc.. Get this done before it causes any further problems. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 02-03-2007
UGH! Mario has the two carburetors pulled off of it as well so that we can get them rebuilt. We need to replace the alternator on it, too. The list goes on with that truck. I'm not sure if you heard about the entire ordeal we had with the transmission in the Squrt, but compared to that, all of these other problems we've encountered are simple. You'll get there. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 02-03-2007
Ah, don't feel too bad, Frank. Hope they get straightened out soon. As I mentioned overall the 2 mechanics that are both in our club give my squirt a good grade. When we drained all fluids they looked good. And we replaced all the filters. We need to do the steering oil and then grease the truck and then the annual service will be complete. Question for you and Mario. Can you change out the hydraulic oil for the squirts? I see a door on the back where you can add oil. But is there a place to drain it and replace with new oil? Also, is there a filter that can be changed out and a new put in? We've gone over this whole truck, and with the service manuals found just about everything else, but with the squirt and the mechanics of it, want to make really sure to change the oil on this if needed. Take care Frank 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - marco17 - 02-08-2007 Don't feel too bad Frank. We had some stuff done to our Crown before the cross country drive, and now we are getting the alternator replaced. So, you're in the same boat with the rest of us <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 02-10-2007
Don't feel too bad Frank. Just I put it in the shop for one thing, and ended up getting something else done. Diode's, at least 2 were gone, and were replaced. Also new regulator, no taking any chances on the old one with the repaired alternator. So it was best to change that too. Runs great now. Still got to figure out a game plan for the radiator. Frank 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 02-11-2007 Hopefully you wont have the problem we had with our 1981 Mack CF-600 while putting in a new radiator. We had to let's see:Remove the shroud fan and more, mostly the entire front end of the motor! What a 22 hour job that was! Good luck with it Frank, She looks great! 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 02-11-2007 Pics from a festival our club went to a few weeks ago. One from the front, and one from a few trucks away, boom extended out all the way. We were packed in kinda tight, we had a good turn out of trucks from our club, including our latest addition, 1940 Seagrave ladder truck. Awesome !!! I'll throw in a pic of that too. Here they are. Frank We had a monthly meeting yesterday with a good turnout of the trucks, will wait to get some pics, I keep forgetting my camera, and will post some. 1975 Crown 50' Telesquirt - Guest - 02-11-2007
Pics from a festival our club went to a few weeks ago.
