It is unusual to find a Collapse Support Unit on a fireground.

One of Rescue Squad 3’s collateral duties is to respond with the squad wagon and two other support vehicles when it runs structural collapses. They had returned from a frame church that collapsed totally at 43rd St. and Sheriff Rd. NE and were responding to roof collapse at 12th and Florida Ave. NW when they came across a house fire in the 1300 block of T St. SE.

White-out conditions afflicted the city several times on February 10, 2010. Despite the fact that the department placed an additional six engine companies in service, anomalies occurred such as seeing Engine Co. 15 downtown at 9th and K St. NW.

On February 10, 2010, the department placed an additional six engines, one truck, six CSU’s (Service Units – pickup trucks), four Humvees (Extraction Units), three driver-only Water Supply Engines, and staffed two large wreckers. All saw service. This is a view of a westbound Humvee on K St. NW.

Occasionally (February 10, 2010), units would be enveloped in snow for a few seconds. Here, the Safety Officer confers with Battalion 6 during a brief white-out, 9th and K St. NW.

Great shots, looks like it is a mess up there to say the least. I especially like the ice on the roto-ray, nice sort of artistic shot.

Great shots Chief.
