DCFD Car 100, Vito Maggiolo, in front of The M St. Club’s conveyance. S-152 went in service as Engine 1 in July, 2003. It is a 2003 Seagrave.

A rare shot of Vito on the scene. Most of the time all we get is what he shoots!! Good catch Kevin!

FYI:

When Metro agreed to built new Engine 24/Truck 11 in exchange for the land occupied by "Old E-24",a now retired DFC of the Apparatus Division proved his senility by forgetting to allow enough room for the Tillercage(s) rearward sliding door(s) to open sufficently, allowing the Tillerman to exit the vehicle. I proposed to PPM that the DFC be reassigned to Tiller Truck 11 and be force to remain in his seat for the entire tour as a just punishment! BTW, you can see Engine 22's flagpole from the ramp of Engine 24! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Banghead' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/3_12_21.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='3_12_21' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stirpot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Stirpot' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Captain.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Captain' />

I see that 3 Truck has been running a Reserve TDA instead of the Tower. Is Tower 3 going to be OOS for an extended time? Thanks

Is it ever not out of service for an extended time? 4100 runs a year will do that to ya

So when the Engine Company ran as two-piece Companies what was the staffing like on the two units?

The wagon ran with 4 and the pumper was driver only.

So they didn't lose much in man power when they went from two-piece companies to one piece companies...

DCFD Photos, old or new - Guest - 08-11-2010

We didn't lose much in manpower but we lost the ability for engine company's to operate independent on a fire. When there was a fire with two piece operation you had two engines with a independent water supply on side 1 and two on side 3. Now you have only one on each side. The third and fourth due company's are for water supply for the first and second due.

You all would have had to work there and with the system to fully understand how great it was <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/BananaMan.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='BananaMan' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/luxhello.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Luxhello' />

Just to show off how massive the stick is on this truck I tried to capture it from a different point of view.
