While we were up this week doing a pre construction conference I saw these rigs and they do indeed have the 2000gpm single stage pump with the dual 6" intake on the officers side. I measured the wheelbase at 176.50". Per Pierce, the shortest wheelbase you can get with the Arrow XT cab, the 140" "short" body, and a standard sized pump is 172" now. Most if not all of this is a result of the new emissions equipment (DPF, regen system etc.). So the large pump option added about 4.5" to the wheelbase. My department is building an engine that will also be 176.50" and I am optimistic that these will still be very maneuverable. I wasn't armed with a decent camera so not much turned out but I will see if I have any good shots. The DCFD Striker was at the other plant as well but I couldn't get any good shots because it was parked between two other rigs. On a side note, any DC guys here know the reason for having the brake air tanks installed on the top of the rig?

Alex3610,

Can you confirm if the DC Striker is a 1500 or a 3000? I've been told both.

I wanna say it was a 3000 but again I just walked past the front of it and didn't have time to really investigate it. We were so busy with our specs unfortunately I didn't get as much time to explore as I would have liked.

Is that an intake or a discharge on the backstep?

I guess it remains to be seen how they'll work out for the department, but from an esthetic standpoint, the're pretty sharp looking rigs.

Funny thing is they say DCFD but have those awful looking patches

Did you get any BAD shots?

Hey, as some of you may know I was in DC in January and posted around Page 132 i was wondering if the crash rig has been delivered to Engine 13 yet as was planned when I was there last. I will be back in July and hope to photograph some more appliances, anything else new in town?

DCFD Photos, old or new - photone - 05-07-2011

There are two 3" discharges on the rear and one 6" intake under the hosebed.

Well, not until the current coats wear out they aren't!

NSWESP,

By the time you get into town in July most of the new apparatus should be in service. Only exception may be the new TDA's.
