Wondering what it that in front of the rig? It appears to be rotors from a helo.

I am not sure what one of those long things is John but look close it looks like the high-flow bumper turret is flowing water.

Dave, it may be just that. It is hard to really tell.

It is flowing water only, and that "thing" angled down is a ground ladder leaning on the obstacle course- optical illusion.

ResQguy,

I was informed last week that the new Truck 11 is down at the academy. Any chance you've taken any photos of it?

Thanks Cosgrove!! Is Truck 11 the only unit down there? Trucks 10, 12, and 17 shouldn't be too far behind.

any shot is a good shot.

I was told that the Striker was spec'd with 1000# of Purple K, can anyone confirm?

[/quote]

The Striker was spec'ed with 1000 lbs of Purple K and 210 gallons of AR-AFFF foam. All 4 shifts have completed initial operational training with the Oshkosh rep. And plans are in the works for live fire training at National Airport... Hopefully it will be in service in the near future!

Thanks for the confirmation on the Purple K. Tomorrow is my last day in DC. I will make sure to add Foam 2 to my list of targets for next trip in early September.

I had to downsize the photo for it to upload. The larger photo is crystal clear.

The ALF Rescue Squad suffered a little damage on this one. The old girl remained upright while she knocked her opponent over! I'll pass on that 10 ticket ride.

The DCFD Apparatus Shop worked miracles back then and returned the ALF Rescue Squad to RS-1 with a new cab and a few other borrowed parts.

To the DC boys.

Love the Striker, really looks sharp. the only issues I see are going to be the same we have with ours. We have the Williams Fire HVLA (High volume low attack bumper) turret too.

1) the red cap that sits inside the center always seems to be jostled loose and goes buh bye. Water gets in the blue hose and cakes up the PKP when you flow initially. Buy a bucket of those stupid plugs

2) the blue cloth jacketed hose for the PKP. REMOVE AND REVERSE. The portion at the base of the windshield always pinches and cracks the inner plastic jacket because it comes straight out and up. If you have the pivoting elbow end in the back it reduces the pinching.I'm guessing OTC has already fixed this issue but just incase

When they get a ride along program with Foam 2 I'm first in line <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> LOVE to drive (or ride) a Striker thru a busy city <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
