I saw them. You always take great photos. I need to upgrade to something better than my cell phone, but for now I'm happy just getting our apparatus back on here. Let me know next time you are in the city.

Quote:It has been assigned to the Fleet Maintenance Division for multiple years now. They use it as a tow truck. I haven't heard of it being used for rescue-capabilities in many years
Quote:THe Rotator is at the Fire Department Repair Shop. The plan to integrate it with Rescue Squad No2 went out the window. There was a lot of time spent on training members how to use the unit. I was sad to see the plan scrapped
Quote:It now sits outside in the weather unsecured on a public DC street near the shops.  Not even kept indoors or in the secured fenced in lot at the shops.  Surprised the bell has not been stolen off it yet.

Thanks for the tips guys! It definitely is not shown a lot of love and it shows. Sad.

New Jersey? I would hope, and hope they send it to Seagrave in Wisconsin, so that technicians trained on the Aerialscope can rebuild it, with proper (and updated) Aerialscope components. I've seen several Aerialscopes, including one we had where I worked, that were damaged due  to the departments using repair facilities that shouldn't have been working on an Aerialscope in the first place.
Tac you're worried about Seagrave New Jersey doing a refurb on an Aerialscope??? Again it went to Seagrave NJ so I would say they are very capable on rebuilding a Scope.

Quote:This reserve truck is being utilized by Tower 3 for the indefinite future. The Tower has been sent to New Jersey (I was told) to start the refurbishment process. This reserve TDA is basically brand new, post refurb.
What trailer is this unit pulling?? This tractor originally replaced a Hahn tractor with a Grove/LTI ladder

Depends on....pardon the pun....scope of the work. If it's only basically a refresh, they can do it. But Seagrave sends all major Aerialscope refurbishment and repair work to Wisconsin. They have equipment, tooling and a skilled quantity of manpower that NJ doesn't to not only rebuild but upgrade it. At least that's the last I heard.

On a side note, Seagrave in NJ is now http://www.eessllc.com/. Does Seagrave still operate a factory service center there? I remember that Seagrave service center was primarily for FDNY rigs after Campbell Supply resigned from being a Seagrave dealer to go ALF.

Recently heard that Tower 3 (at Rehab) won't pass UL testing. Any facts to that? What was the plans for the second AerialScope, or old Tower 3 once it was rehabbed?

Thanks

Brent

From what I heard the new scope was going to Tower 3 and the old/refurbed one was going to be a reserve. This was some time ago so things could have changed

Does this mean eight pumpers built to the 2015 spec by Seagrave?  At over $1M each?  Are these pumpers coming into the fleet fully loaded and ready to go?

Why is there a contract for just one custom pumper on this order, at $200K less than the other pumpers on the other order?  Is this one special because of station size, maybe enhanced foam capabilities?

Which truck apparatus is getting re-happed, the existing Aerialscope?

DCFD Photos, old or new - ACPD227 - 09-12-2017

788,648.00 for 1 pumper wow.

DCFD Photos, old or new - TacSupport1 - 09-13-2017

I was also curious about the somewhat inflated prices.

Looking through some of the documents linked below, I understand a little more. These purchases are being made using the HGAC purchasing cooperatives, so no bids were needed. They also added a lot of options and upgrades to the base price. Definitely fully loaded, no expense spared it seems. The contract includes stainless steel construction, extended warranties, and also includes loose equipment, radios, computers, and installation.

Here's some more information on the award, breaks down the cost a little more on the Engine purchase:

Thanks for the info. Most departments use the HGAC to save money seems not the case here.
