In Houston, we pump approx 180PSI on a 200' 1-3/4" handline. When we add that line onto the apartment lay and then also extend the 1-3/4" line with our high-rise kits, it goes up even more.

??? What is the flow on the nob @ 180 PSI??

I agree, does your hose really have 40PSI FL per 100' (assuming your using a 100PSI fog)?

We recently changed the lens in the Mars light from white to amber. Here is a pic with the amber lens on the Mars light.

A DCFD 1.5" with CVFSS is charged 200' @ 160psi, 350' @ 205psi, & 400' @ 220psi. NP(100psi) + FL(15psi per 50')= EP @ 125gpm.

Why? It is against NFPA to have amber lights to the front when the apparatus is in motion (calling for the right of way). Not to mention that the light would be much more effective with a clear lens, and in my opinion look better too.

I'm not sure why. Someone(s) else came up with the idea to do it and found a lens for it.



I'll mention what you stated here regarding the NFPA regulations on amber lights.



I do agree that it would be more effective with the white lens on it, as the white lens was much brighter.

I'm not sure what type of nozzle you are using but the automatic nozzle manufacturers (especially TFT) always taught that on 200' of 1 3/4" hose that if you flowed it at 150 psi pump pressure that you would be flowing 150 gpm at the nozzle.



In DC our pump manual states that 100' of 1 1/2 hose has 30 psi friction loss when flowing 125 gpm. I was taught, and many have told me, that that number may be a little low. I was always taught that it was 35 psi (some may differ over whether it's 30, 35, or even 40 as that has sometimes been controversial over what it exactly is). Of course, the quality of the hose you are using will have a big effect on your friction loss.

I think that tiller is no longer in our fleet as I haven't seen it in a long while.



I imagine that the engine went into our reserve fleet.

Deja Vu. Just for you, Smketrfdny: Remember the SW corner of 14th and New York Ave? A repeat offender. This photo is c.1977, but it could have been anytime in through the 80s. You can't really see it from the soft scan, but when viewed in The Scrapbook one can count seven 1 1/2" lines where members threw a rack out the window and had the wagon driver hook it up to a preconnect, most likely the 350'. One line came out the 7th floor window.
