Tim,

Sorry, I don't pay much attention to the ambulances, but there were two way in the back. I have no clue on the 50s and 60s. I'm sure they have a home, but I'll bet they are not there long enough to cool off!

Jerry

Thanks Jerry.

Im hoping either DCFIREMAN or PFDENG1 or someone else in the know can help.

Jerry is right, Tim. Not much stays in one place long enough to cool off. Ostensibly, the locations are as follows.

Each of the six battalions has three reserve pumpers: one 50, one 60, and one 70 series. The reserve pumpers take the number of the Battalion, i.e. Battalion 2’s 50 series wagon is 52. Battalion 6’s 50 series wagon is 56, and so on.

Makes enough sense.

But what are:

80 series- ??

Now if I just had a shop number for all those reserves I could update my reserve engine list.

Water Supply Task Force - three 50 series and a suburban tanker

The 50 series wagons are water supply engines equipped with all 4” hose. Recently DC had a pressure problem with water mains in upper NE. For that day, the department staffed three 50 series wagons with drivers and sent them to E-12’s quarters as the Water Supply Task Force to augment any response to a fire incident.

The 60 and 70 series wagons are Ready Reserve units, with a full compliment of air masks, tools, hose, and radios. They are for major events in which the off-duty Platoon is recalled.

The others are Regular Reserve pieces to be used when a company’s regular apparatus is out of service for mechanical reasons. When that occurs, the company must “change over”; place its own hose and tools from the regularly assigned piece onto these mostly empty reserves. In Jerry’s post #663, E-12’s wagon was at the shops for an extended period (weeks) and in service with Regular Reserve E-60. The regular reserves are the oldest pieces.

Pierce Dash S-150 (xE-33) just assigned to E-05;

Seagrave S-140 (xE-27) is reserve E-72 at E-30;

Seagrave S-135 (xE-25) is now E-34 assigned to Training Academy.

Kevin,

If you have not been running all day, Tim and I have kept you occupied. I think I'm almost complete. I do have two more questions.

1. S-123 "Memorial". I show it as being wrecked on 6-8-05 and out of service. What does Memorial mean?

2. Only one on my list not on yours. #S-108 '98 E\-One ex-E26. Gone?

That's it. Thanks for all - Jerry

I believe it is E-20's E-1 that was rolled over in a wreck and is now at the Drill Yard.

This is a picture of it being used last week to train the SHop Personel on the new wrekers operation.

S-108 was E-64 until June; I believe it is being disposed, if not already done.

The reserve engine that was formerly E-5, S-119, was the very last 2000 Cyclone II to leave first line service a couple of weeks ago. It is now E-87 in the warehouse.

tcosgrovejones,

I thought the wrecked Engien 20 at the Training Facility was this one:

*Engine 20 2000 E\-One Cyclone II MFD, 4-door, r/w, ex-E8/E69R, 1250/500, #129

I'm not sure, but I'm completely confused on Engine 20 and 21. Nothing I have listed matches the funeral rig in photos from the recent funeral.

They used E-21's 2006 Seagrave for the recent LODD funeral. They had magnets made up which covered the markings on the wagon for the funeral, thus you saw E-20 and Tenleytown on the rig. I was told by someone at E-20 that the magnets were done so well that you couldn't tell that there were magnets covering the actual lettering.
