1949 ward lafrance model 85T purchased in joint co operation with newport twp board of commissioners and the former glen alden coal co.they purchased twin 1949 engines, this being wanamie engine, the other being alden sheatown engine.at that time there was a fire co in each little village in newport twp,the other co's being glen lyon, sheatown, alden .it served as engine 1 until 1985 when ironically being replaced by another ward lafrance.its sister engine remains in service yet today.its sister was due to be replaced in 1992 with a fmc but during its construction the 1985 blew the motor ,which is why it remains as engine 3 today.

this 1966 ward lafrance originally delivered to triton hose co of tunkhannock wyoming county pa was equipped with 750gpm 750gwt gasoline waukisheau engine, standard transmission, hydraulic brakes ,manual steering.it was converted by a member of the co with 671 detroit diesel, allison automatic, air brakes, power steering.it originally served triton until 1994 when it was sold to fleetville fire co of benton twp lackawanna county pa who sent it out and had partial refurb cosmetically ,upgrading pump to 1250gpm adding 4 crosslays, preping gun.they sold it entirely stripped in 2004.it was in horrible condition with wiring having gone trhough a pair of cutters under dash, removing every piece of equipment off of it including hard tubes ,ladders, ladder brackets, & even tail lights.it had absolutely no battery boxes left to it once we got into restoring it,no jump seat floor and floor supports left on it due to rott.we didn't realize it was as bad as it was until we started going into project.thanks to a handy friend in welding and fabricating we were able to bring it back in great condition
