Boston EMS Renews Contract With Braun Ambulances - TacSupport1 - 03-02-2016 Think it's interesting that they are shifting away from the "medium duty" chassis to a back to a Ford F450 Super Duty, although that's just as good as any medium duty is anyways. The Liberty model is the one featured on the show "Nightwatch". Also smart to throw some 4x4 ambulances into the mix. From a Braun Ambulances Press Release: Quote:Over the last forty years, we’ve had the pleasure of working with departments large and small, public and private, from East to West. We serve some of the country’s most well-known departments, and Boston EMS is a great example. Since 2000, we’ve worked directly with Boston EMS to deliver over 100 units. Boston EMS Renews Contract With Braun Ambulances - ff168577 - 03-02-2016 I would say they are going to the Liberty model since medium duty chassis aren't available anymore. Where you referring to a specific medium duty chassis not being available, because there are several medium duty chassis options still very much available. Including the one used for their most recent units, the International Terrastar. Boston EMS Renews Contract With Braun Ambulances - edburke - 03-02-2016 I would guess that since the crews that actually had to work in them loved the C4500s and have been complaining about the ride and lack of comfort in the Terrastars since 2011, the department finally listened to them. Also, the medium duty options are very limited. Since Boston EMS is not part of the fire department, they are not subject to the exemptions that the FD enjoys. The department would have to upgrade just about the entire department to CDLs for any vehicles with air brakes. Boston EMS Renews Contract With Braun Ambulances - TacSupport1 - 03-02-2016 Ed....how do you find the Braun modules holding up? Also, do the crews like the way they are currently laid out? Boston EMS Renews Contract With Braun Ambulances - edburke - 03-03-2016 They're the best trucks I have ever worked in, and most of my co-workers agree. The 2005-2008 box design was the best, but the current design with the linens/scoop/stair chair/boards in the passenger side rear were a necessary evil to even out weight distribution. Boston EMS Renews Contract With Braun Ambulances - derry86 - 03-13-2016 We have chosen the same chassis as BEMS for our past three ambulances. We are hoping that the F550 4x4 will be a workable platform for us, and that the hydraulic spring systems will solve the ride issues. I attended the field service school at Braun last October and the Dynamic spring pkg looked real nice. |
