London fire brigades new 210ft ladder. - Pete(UK) - 03-08-2020

London fire brigade has 3 of these 210 foot ladders coming, 2 of which have been paid for by charitable donations of £2.5m from the London Freemasons.
One will be stationed in my hometown.
These will be the highest ladders in the whole of the UK.
Built by Emergency One UK.
Mostly their photo's.

Also coming, to replace the older ALP's, are 12 of these, 110 foot Ladder platforms.
Not my photo's.
Taken from Emergency One UK facebook page.

Nice!

Is that a new color scheme?

RE: London fire brigades new 210ft ladder. - Pete(UK) - 03-09-2020

Yes, the ladders seem to be that color, I do not know if it will remain, once they go into service. (I hope it does)
I can see no plans for the existing fleet to undergo a color change to suit.
Would be too costly for over 200 pumpers.

Really, really nice looking rigs!  But - They're HUGE (for Europe, at least)!  I can only imagine there are parts of London that are off-limits due to size?

I like the yellow ladders.  Much more distinctive than silver.  Any new ALP's coming to LFB in the future?

RE: London fire brigades new 210ft ladder. - Pete(UK) - 03-10-2020

Have not heard John, so I dont know.

Admittedly they are big, but since the Grenfell tower incident, LFB are in need of large ladders.
These also have the platform as a lift. so in the event of people rescue, old ladies do not need to negotiate 210 foot of ladder.

That makes absolute sense, Pete, at least for those within reach of the ladders and unable to escape on their own (no comment on Grenfell here).

This replaces all of the ladders that London has correct?

Itb looks that way, seeing that the fleet only has 7 ALP's and 4 turntable ladders, and these are 2007 built vehicles, which may well go into reserve.
Dont take this as gospel though, I am only guessing.

Soho tower ladder, and Wimbledons ALP
