Two Houses Going, Littleton CO 7-4-14 - Guest - 07-12-2014 Other than some small fires the 4th was overall very quiet until just after midnight. Littleton & South Metro Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in Highlands Ranch, near LFR Station 17. First due E17 sized up two homes with heavy fire showing, pulled a 2 1/2 and a 2nd Alarm was transmitted. A 1 3/4" was advanced into each house where interior and attic extension was found. I arrived about 30 minutes into the incident and fire was still venting from pressurized tanks in the garage. Medic 34 crew mans the 2 1/2 and knocks down flames that would occasionally extend from the garage tanks. Ladder 34 coming out for a bottle change and quite messy from pulling ceiling. I also find it interesting that the Ladder Chauffer is a working person too. Thanks for sharing, excellent photos as always, Trav! The first arriving medic unit is dedicated to firefighting tasks while the second is used only for medical stand by / transport. Generally the medic crews are always on a hose line backing up an engine company. With South Metro the Ladder Chauffer and senior Firefighter pair together to make the "Bravo Team" and the Officer & other Firefighter will make the "Alpha Team." On residential structure fires they almost always split to perform inside and out side work or can go "all in" to a specific task. Two Houses Going, Littleton CO 7-4-14 - chief60 - 07-24-2014 Great pics!! What is South Metro doing about aerials? Aren't all 4 SPH100s? Two Houses Going, Littleton CO 7-4-14 - Guest - 07-24-2014 Quote:Great pics!! What is South Metro doing about aerials? Aren't all 4 SPH100s? Thanks! South Metro is in a bit of trouble right now. One Sutphen is already in the shop so the ALF / LTI Quint is running out of Station 35 and the only usable aerial. The other Sutphen's are running as Quad's basically until this gets resolved. Aurora, Castle Rock, Cunningham, Denver & Littleton all have aerials within a reasonable distance which helps. |
