Boston Blizzard
#1
I understand Boston put some extra comapnies in service and had a couple of multiples during the recent blizzard.  Anyone got any info on that.

Thanks and be safe

Sending an extra engine company when a fire alarm box is struck for a fire.

Three multiples during the blizzard.  So, your getting four engine companies,

two ladder companies, maybe a tower ladder, and a rescue company.

Okay: We staffed all Engines & Trucks 1/4 & both Rescues 1/5 from 0800 Friday until at least 0800 Sunday. Three extra Engines were placed in service, staffed 1/3. E61 was at E9's qtrs, E62 was at E29's qtrs & E64 was at E48's qtrs. Three extra trucks were also placed into service, also staffed 1/3. L34 was at E20's qtrs, L31 was at the Fire Brigade (normally cross staffed) & L36 was at E55's qtrs. The Marine Unit was relocated to the Charles River Dam. RIT Chiefs were NOT assigned on boxes, nor was the Marine Unit. Mutual Aid availability was reduced from 5/2 to 2/1. Dive Unit was staffed with 4 divers & placed at E20's qtrs. 8 Two person "Delta Cars" were placed in service (D3 at HQ, D4 & D5 at E55, D6 & D7 at E53, D8 at E52, D9 at E9 & D10 at E41) to maintain a FD presence at downed wires without tying up frontline companies for an extended period. Think that's everything......
