On Friday morning a trash truck was traveling northbound on Interstate 25 when the driver realized his cargo bay was on fire. The driver exited the highway and found an open parking lot where he dumped a large load of recycled material. When South Metro Firefighters arrived they found the pile fully engulfed with flames. With no exposures and a nearby storm drain the incident commander assigned companies to keep the heat down while letting the material burn off. After about an hour the size of the smoldering pile was minimal and the trash company easily removed what was left.
