Too little sleep, a severance check with nowhere to go and an open eBay session later, I bought a fire truck.
1977 American LaFrance Century series pumper, marked as No. 9 when it arrived, 1500 gpm/500 gallon stainless steel tank. Originally was open-backed on the jump seat area, but later factory-refurbished to enclose the rear and add two more seats.
Moments after rolling off the lowboy from its trek from the East Coast to sunny California:

And more or less as it stands today (new graphics, changes to the warning lights, dropped the bell back on and reloaded it with equipment:
