Well after no luck with Renyolds Store VFD on purchasing the 1971 ALF Rescue and deciding against the 67 Seagrave I found a 1971 ALF pumper. After going to PA to look at it and some lunch I purchased it. The unit was at my house this past Wednesday evening.
After a couple of hours Thursday replacing batteries and some other minor things I was able to start the 8V71 with no problems (it hasn't been run since summer), she smoked for thirty seconds and sounds great, no mechanical problems that I can find.
She is originally from Meyersdale PA and after a phone call to them, they still have all of the maintenance records, part and filter numbers, etc. I am the fifth owner of the unit. Other than some body work (rust issues) she should be ready for some parades by this Christmas.
Specs: 1971 ALF 1000 Series, 8V71 Detroit Diesel, 5 speed manual, 1250 GPM Hale pump, 750 gallon water tank. I will take some better pictures of the unit once the weather gets a little nicer here.
I am going to have to make the hose bed dividers, cross lay divider and the trays for the hard sleeves, I can't seem to track them down.
