Posting pix - Is there an easier way?

A few years ago I posted pix with no problems.  Now I have more I'd like to share, using Windows 8.1.  All photos are .jpg.  After getting instructions from Google for resizing "pixels" to "KB", I made seven tries for one photo before I finally got it small enough to post (American Eagle).  When I hovered the mouse over each of the next six pictures it said they were all well under 200.  When I tried to attach, only one of the six did so.  Display said all the others were too big.  I've now taken one down as far as 600 x 604 & it's still too big.  Obviously this site works well for many, and I'm surely glad it does, but this 64-year old's never faced such issues, and my pilot light's about outta gas.
