It's either to replace Rescue 1's Pierce Quantum (which will then be sold to either Fall River or New Bedford, I can't remember which) or to replace H2 (Special Unit) which is the Lighting Plant & carries Speedy-Dry etc. That rig's ancient!

The original plan was to purchase 2 identical KME Rescues for Rescues 1 & 2, make R2's current KME a dedicated spare & sell the Quantum because it's much too big for our needs. The previous administration wasn't very receptive to what the men in the trenches needed/wanted. I'm not sure if that remains or if things have changed. I'll be down at HQ in the next couple of weeks & will find out for sure.

It doesn't see anywhere near the use that the other apparatus does, and for it's purpose, it's still in pretty good shape, ancient or not.
Firenews had the rescue order as being revisited and now it states its been canceled altogether. Any new info skip
My best guess? New administration, new leadership, new ideas. Plus all city departments have been told that we need to reduce our budgets by 1% in the upcoming fiscal year. We were supposed to have another Academy class start right after the one that just graduated, but it's been pushed back (first to after July 1, now to November).

Rec'd. That makes sense. Allways interesting to watch how things shake out. Thanks.
Any news on the rescue that was put out to bid
last heard everything on hold, except tower ladder 10
firenews.org say Boston has on order the new tower and a light rescue to replace H2 and a bid for a new rescue
New KME Rearmount Tower for Tower Ladder 10 will (supposedly) be delivered within the next 2 months. Not sure on the delivery date(s) for the KME Rearmount (Last of the order with L17, L18 & L29) or the KME HP Pumper with Squad Body for E10.
