Can someone post some Pierce Javelin's. Does anyone know the production years of this chassis and how many were made.

The Javelin was introduced in 1990 and production ended in 1994.  I have 61 Javelins in my Pierce list, but there may possibly be more.  I had the opportunity to drive the second one built, around the factory lot, while it was a demo unit.  It was not loaded and I never got above 25 MPH, but it seemed to handle just fine and was much quieter than other rigs.

I just checked my Pierce E-number list.  I'd agree that Dave's number of 61 is pretty close, if not complete.

Several departments in Virginia had Javelins and they were never well liked especially in snow and ice. Most said they would wander all over the road even when the roads were dry. All were eventually sent back to Pierce and made into rear drive engines, one was a Dash, one an Arrow and another to a Lance.I'm not sure but I think 2 of those units are still with those departments.

The Sterling VFC in Loudoun County had a Javelin and as stated in a previous post had the same issues in the snow. I had heard that they even had issues getting in backed into their Station during snow/ice conditions due to their ramp going up to get into the Bay. They sent it back to Pierce at some point and I believe had it changed to a rear wheel drive. I don't know what the cost was, but it stayed around for a few more years running as Wagon 11. From there I think it went across sea's for the government.

Corrections welcome.

That is correct, Sterling's became an Arrow, Centerville's became a Lance and Catlett became a Dash.Sterling would put their truck out of service when it snowed. At one point someone mentioned the "Lemon Law" about these three trucks but it was hearsay as far as I know...
