Juergen do you have any other 1990s or 1980s-era photos from South Florida? Always interested to see the historical ones <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Great photos of Marathon. Thanks!!

Thanks,

I opened a new thread about my Florida trip from 1992.

I'm not sure if you guys have noticed, but I decided to change the name of the thread to "FLORIDA RIGS (The Sunshine State)". Reason? I find myself traveling well outside of just South Florida, lol! I hope this will attract more of Florida's firepixers.

Today and tomorrow myself, karl4700 & Kiddo76 will be buffing in Osceola/Polk, Orange and Seminole Counties... here are some of today's beauties.

While I like your work, really like this shot! Always thought Volusia County fleet was sharp looking. Look forward to more from that region.

What makes the front LED lights look black?

There are only a few LED's in the lightbar. There is alot of "open space" for more LED's.

Im not sure about the turn signals above the head lights.

I believe that is what is considered a "NFPA lightbar"...the minimum specs for compliancy. The fully populated LED lightbar is significantly more expensive. Throw in an Opticom emitter and its even more so.

Does anyone know the story of when/why Miramar got rid of this rig?

The ones that look black on the front of the cab are the turn signals. These are still the 5mm type LED's that are mounted in a black epoxy (they do not utilize a reflector) and either have a clear or amber lense. As stated above, the lightbar has open spaces where you can put more LED modules but it does cost a lot more $$$. Here is a photo of the a Whelen 600 series turn signal module (credit to Whelen Engineering)
