Thanks for posting that photo Frank. Do you happen to have any other photos of that rig serving in VA ? Hard to make out the actual department name on the door, but it looks like C C D F Vol. Fire Department ? Do you know the name of the department it served ? Any help greatly appreciated. You asked the question some time ago but I didn't see an answer. I remember seeing an article in one of the fire magazines (would have been Fire Engineering or Firemen back then)describing the Mattydale load when it was a new thing. Believe it was on an ALF, possibly a 700, and I'm sure it was proir to 1972. I will reluctantly acknowledge that I saw the article when it came out.

This looks like a military style pumper with the open pump panel. But it looks nothing like what Sanford was producing at the time. A local department had one that looked like this one and, if I remember correctly, it was a Maxim that also served in the military. Could this be a Maxim, too?

In the 2000 US census Walton NY only had about 3000 residents in an isolated area of the Catskill Mountains, yet 45 years ago they received this Pirsch aerial which was very up to date then. Why? Probably because Walton is the home of the only cottage cheese processing plant operated by Breakstone, a leading distributor of that dairy product for well over a century.
