Before we had scanners thats how me and friends would chase the the engines and trucks, simply by the sounds of those detroits. Those days are long gone. Back in the day Steadman truly was the Super House. Man has times surely changed!
Found this 1947 Chevrolet labeled "Moorhead FD Community Fire truck" in a gas station in Poughkeepsie, NY. Using Google, the only FD that I could find was in Moorhead, MN but nothing is listed on their website. As usual i was in a rush and forgot to look at the pump/body for any manufacturer tags/ The NYS registration sticker shows the VIN as 5QWL3846. At some point it was modified into a tanker.

In May 2008, it was sitting about 1/2 mile west of Capon Springs,WV VFC station on Capon Springs RD.I don't know if it was privately owned, or had some connection to the local vfc.This was a "side of the road" shot.

You helped fill in the blanks to the Mack. When you mentioned in your post Capon Springs, I called the Chief at Capon Springs and he told me they actually did end up with the Mack tanker. A construction company in Capon Springs purchased it and eventually donated it to the Capon Springs VFD. They found it very BIG and underpowered to be able to handle the hills in the Capon Springs area. It was never painted or marked up as Capon Springs - it was always white. It then ended up where it is now, at Keplinger's in Winchester.

I reread the sale ad in the PA Fireman. Buchannan Valley said it was 114 inches wide, 360 inches long and 126 inches high. That's BIG!!
Coal Run Fire Co. is located in Indiana County, PA. It is between Pittsburgh, and Altoona. It is a very small, hole in the wall place. I've stopped numerous times over the past 2 years, and have never found anybody around. I even made arrangements with the chief and he stood me up. Its current name is actually Coal Run/McIntyre Fire Co. because of a merger between the two departments. Not much else to tell.

Thanks Pat. Needed the info for my Hamerly delivery list
I believe the Hamerly was a 1978, and was purchased used from the Indiana Fire Dept. in Indiana County, PA. I'm not 100% sure on the information though. Some of the western PA guys could fill in some more detail.

Pat jr., your dad shot this station back in 2002 (I have copies) this is in Young Twp., which once had 5-6 vfc's, now down to about 3. Even for PA., this area is pretty desolate.
