Boston Fire Department
I saw the drawings for the new KMEs they are exactly the same as the others except the cabs will have flat roofs.

The DOT plate is probably for the truck delivery company delivering the rig from Fla. to Boston.

Now all we have to do is find them! Last I heard they were not at Bulldog & when I was at Motor Squad last Thursday they were not there either!

Id say at a repair shop between KME and Boston. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/shrug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Shrug' />

Lol normally I would agree with you and I am not sure how boston likes KME after all most of their equipment is E\-One (kind of a toss up of which one I hate the least) from what I have heard the new ones LA city and county got they for the most part seem happy with them.

Most of our Ladders are E\-One, with the exception of 3 Pierce Rearmounts, 2 Pierce MidMount Towers & 1 Pierce Rearmount Tower. As for pumpers, this will give us 6 KME's, 3 Predators & 3 Severe Service. Our two Rescues are Pierce & KME. I haven't heard a lot of bad or good things about the new KME's.

Skip, we just retired (about 18 months ago) a 1991 KME that ran 1st due for its entire lifetime. We also still have a 1987 as a reserve piece.

4 Pierce rearmounts.

I forgot about that because the 4th one is NEVER in service! Ladder 11 would respectfully disagree with the fact that we have 4.........but I suppose Tower, I mean LADDER 10 would disagree about the number of Pierce Towers we have too........... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hysterical' />

That's the rig the companies have been training on. Saw it at Motor Squad last Friday. Real nice rig. They should be going into service any day now.

3 pumps 17,22 and 33. Boston doesn't do multiyear bids so the next group of pumpers will require a new bidding process. E\-One, Pierce and KME are usually the contenders because of a stipulation regarding the proximity of the dealer service center.

3 in this order. Engines 17 (Meetinghouse Hill, Dorchester), 22 (South End) & 33 (Back Bay/Fens). As far as I know, 33's current piece is going to be refurbed & reassigned to Engine 49 (Readville/Hyde Park). Not sure about the plans for 17 & 22, but there are still a few engines out there that could use new/refurbed pieces. If I had to guess? Refurbs to Engines 20, 30, 48, 51 & 56 and new pieces to Engines 16 & 52.

Drove down Service Pl. last night, this rig was still parked deep inside the shops. All the way in the back, on the left.
