Two of the most unique and interesting units I have photographed over the years were both from the Waterville and District FD in Nova Scotia. The first is a volume pumper ("Big Flow"). 1987 Lantz/Ford F350 4x4 2300igpm.

The second unit at Waterville was a hose truck/trailer pump combination. 1991 Lantz/Ford F700 250/250 The capacity of the trailer pump was 625 igpm.

Seagrave spelled Incendies incorrectly (Icendies)on the lettering on the body, I wonder if anyone in Montreal caught the mistake!

The Seagrave plant in Walkerville (now a part of Windsor, Ontario) stood up until a couple of years ago when it was torn down for area redevelopment.

Cochrane, Alberta purchased one of the first Rosenbauer T Rex aerial platforms in Canada. They also operate two Freightliner FL 80 engines and a FL 80 rescue as their front line apparatus. 52 Engine is a 2003 Superior built engine with 1250 IGPM pump, 1000 IGWT and twin 30 IG Foam tanks

The aerial platform is a 2008 Rosenbauer General Spartan with 1750/250/2103 ft. T Rex.

51 Engine in Cochrane, Alberta is a 1996 Hub built FL 80 with 1250 pump ? /? .I must confess to messing up the stats as I was photographing this rig because just as I had the engine out on the ramp, the platform pulled up from a call and I got to talking to the driver and officer on the truck and forgot all about 51 engine! My eyeballs got all round at the sight of the then brand new T Rex and my brain went all fuzzy! They were really proud of their new truck and not only did they pose the truck in the sun for me, they insisted on putting up the boom and putting it thru its paces. Very impressive truck, looks easy to set up, quick and smooth!

For me buffing has always had a measure of good fortune or luck, the sun shines at the right time, someone's around who can position the rig for you, the guy at the gas station across the street knows someone that's a volunteer on the dept. who has the time to spend to come down to the station,or showing up at a department the day a new truck just arrives. That was the case with this photo, taken many years ago. In 198, the City of Burnaby was expecting delivery of two new aerial apparatus and as luck would have it, I happened to pass by the fire station shortly after they were delivered. My drive by happened as two of the other in service ladder companies were there inspecting the new aerials and kicking the tires. The chief mechanic at the time, Barry Howard, knew of my interest in apparatus, so he invited me over, showed me his new trucks, posed them for me then invited me up for a ride! The result of all of this is one of my favorite photos, as shown in the second image. First, in 1987, Burnaby B.C. took delivery of two Thibault Amertek CM-1 1500/125/105 ft. Skypods.

This next photo shows three generations of aerial trucks that were on the Burnaby roster in 1987. From top to bottom, !987 Thibault Amertek CM-1 1500/125/105 ft. Skypod, 1977 Pierreville Scot 840/200/100 ft. and 1956 American LaFrance 700 series 840/150/100 ft. This was taken from the other Skypod! What fun it was!
