Looks like you need a new flasher. Tridon Alternating Flasher EL13A check at your local Napa. For the front red flashers. This should also be tied into the lights on your light bar as well. That's how mine is anyway.
FWIW, Depending on the spec's some front red lights could have been steady burning and some could have been alternating flashing lights.
A good motorize flasher will make them look good. You probably can find some post lights in good shape for the rear and tie them in to the front lights to flash as well. That is if you don't want to keep the strobes there. Probably not original lights on the rear.

So i went to lititz for the truck show and got some things for my truck. Finally got a bulldog, and a kilt to put on it. Got a service manual (thanks klbmack) and found out about wheels and the wonderful dangers of split rims. Still need a ton of things, including still a steering wheel (either color now, doesnt matter), rear grab bar, and steps to get up into the hose bed. I am also looking for an air horn switch like the one pictured below. I havnt found any information on them online. Also looking for a couple black federal q switches. Anyone know where to find them? And on a second note, if anyone is going to wysox pa, please let me know!

The picture shows what appears to be an electric pull switch, with twin cables attached to actuate. If this is the case, check out Cole Hersee (Boston, Ma.) part # 9109 momentary pull switch. Their catalog is available online, if you prefer. I've used these before, they are the same as used by several OEM's. Good luck, and the piece (and pics; thanks!) look great! For the foot buttons, cruise EBAY. After bringing up the home page for EBAY, click on "Motors". In this screen, type in "fire trucks" in the search box. Typically, there is a gentleman from Salem, WI who strips apparatus and sells the parts.

Are these the foot switches you are looking for http://www.linemaster.com/Medical/Footsw...No=Compact. Mine just uses regular "High Beam" switches for the Q on the officers side.
Update. I broke the truck. Normaly every day im home i start the truck up because its outside til we find a place for it. Today, the steering wheel felt lose, like it was easier to move. I started the truck up and turned the wheel a little and it went BOOM. Then i lost steering. Ok fantastic, so i looked underneath and saw that the arm that goes to the output gear from the power steering cylander underneath came off. So pretty sure i found the problem i tried putting it back on. There are two screws that i had to undo with plyers and loosen them up. But still no go. I was able to get it on a little, but again the wheels turned a bit and boom again it came off. I dont know if i just have to match up the arm with the gears or if something is damaged. Attached is a few pictures of what im talking about. First picture is an outside shot of the mechanism. Second is looking up into it where the arm popped off of the gear. The thing protruding at the top is a screw, there were two of these that i had to loosen with plyers to help troubleshoot. How can i fix this? Im hoping its something as easy as aligning the gears and popping it back on the shaft?
Truck is still broken. If any one knows about it please let me know
Couple things i found. Piece of masking tape from the mack factory with location and number. Still wish the truck was red...
Update, truck is fixed and all is working well. Turns out whoever serviced the power steering cylander didnt tighten it up completely, which i shall find out who did it and have a nice word with them, thank god it popped off in my driveway and not on the road. So with it being fixed, i took it up to scottdale pa for a halloween event. She ran great as ever and im getting better at driving it, alot better. Heres a few videos of the ride up, and one of me pulling a steep hill in 4th gear with out a problem.

Exactly is, that one however he wants 65 for shipping, which the headliner he wants 75 for. So its almost doubling the price, so im gonna try to find another one closer to me. Thank you though!
Some updates... Nothing major. I lowered the ladder rack, changed the rear lights, removed the strange cowls on the headlights. Hopefuly headliner and steering wheel soon. She still runs great as ever. Oil change due soon, and just maybe that fuel gauge will get fixed. Also got some old school MSA low pressure Scbas to take up some room.

Looks good Rob. Can't wait to see it in person in August. We'll have to do some group photo's!!
Definatly, im real excited for the westerns this year.
Love to get my hands on an Old Mack, although the shipping would cost more than the truck!
Excellent updates, good luck with it, they are fun, but they suck some coin ! |
