Here are some relics. Hopefully the ALF historians can answer this question. I was always told ALF only ventured into the Crash Truck business, once in the 1980's and it was delivered to Ft. Lauderdale Executive. Well how about this rig??

While I don't really qualify, I can shed some light on the subject.

American LaFrance was never considered one of the major players in the ARFF or CFR apparatus field, but they built a bunch of them over the years. The 1980 rig was one of a kind. The rig you have posted was called the "Airport Chief". ALF built less than a dozen of them in the early 1960's. During the 1950's and 1960's, they built several 4x4 and 6x6 rigs based on the 700, 800 and 900 Series chassis. In the early 1950's, they built the O-10 and O-11 series crash trucks for the Air Force. During World War II, they built numerous apparatus for the military that were used on airfields, including a large tractor-trailer foam unit pulled by a 600 Series tractor.

Thanks for the info Dave. I think Pittsburgh Airport had one of each you listed. I know for sure they at least had 4 of the makes without looking again.
