Minnesota Apparatus
Hey guy's: I could use some help with this one. The driver indicated that the rig came from the Washington DC area and was red, in it's past life. The truck looked well used and I could not find a builders plate other than the one for the Federal Cab.

This is the DCFD's former HAZ-MAT. I worked off this rig as a member of HMU-1 in 1990 prior to my promotion to Sergeant in the DCFD. It went back to E\-One on a trade-in and was listed for sale by "Firehouse66" a few years back. I'll try to post one of my slides of the rig soon....Those were the days, working with some of the most entertaining individuals I've ever met, and I miss the "Itchy and Jim-Bob Show" on No.2 Platoon., R.I.P. Thanks Jeff: The FF who helped us indicated that it went to FL, where they became aware of it. Compared to today's apparatus, there was a lot of Diamond Plate used in the interior of the truck.

Yep, John that is DC's former HAZMAT rig. I have some pictures of it in DC colors in a parade down Constitution Avenue sometime in the mid90s. I will look to see if I can pull the slide one of these days. That was the summer I spent going around getting every front-line apparatus that Fairfax CO, Arlington, and Alexandria had.

Here are some pictures from the Central part of Minnesota. We had made a couple of advance arrangements, but for the most part, we stopped and knocked on doors. Hopefully, we will be able to make a couple more trips before we have to hibernate for the winter.

Rockville MN received a FEMA grant for a new tanker. This Spartan/Toyne was received in 2004.

Rockville E-5 is due to be replaced in the next year or so. We were told that the truck had a 1300 gallon tank. If I were a guessing man, I would place it at more like 1000 gallons. You decide.

Next up is the City of Cold Spring MN. We had just got there, when the department received a medical. In the first 4-5 minutes, a vehicle with 6 personel went into service and about 5 minutes later, there were 5 more FF's standing by at the station. I say this only as I was impressed with the response.

We were told about Richmond MN, while at our first stop. I must admit, that it was not on our map. We were told to go to the local marina and ask for a guy, who was the Chief. He gladly helped us and I got a call from him asking a bit more about the hobby. I told him that it was cheaper than therapy and refered him to this site.

The department has been the beneficiary of charitable gambling proceeds and has a rather nice fleet.

This rescue was built by a company that I had never heard before. The irony is that before the day was over, we would photograph another one from the same builder.
