I don't know why but something involving a steel mill keeps ringing.
You may be thinking of the steel mill because US Steel teamed up with Ward Lafrance on the Vantage series pumpers. The cab was constructed using the USS Galva system. Info is in Walt McCall's book, "American Fire Engines Since 1900".

The X-Grapeville rig. Any idea what station in North Versailles it served?
Pat, after some investigation, I am told it once served at the now defunct Park Terrace FD of North Versailles Township. This truck was supposedly a repossession. I'm told it has a Ford chassis under the body.

According to everything I've ever read about the Vantage, all of them were built on Ford chassis.

What happened to that poor old girl??!! Ohh well, I guess it could look good as new with some money but boy does it hurt to see it in that shape!!

With it being brown it looks completely rusted, but it isnt. It was recently sold at a personal auction from someone who collected one or two trucks, and sadly this guy bought it and thats how you see it now.

I believe that the old Seagrave engine is sitting in a farmers field in Butler County.
