As late as the early 90s the LaFrance, Seagrave, and Dodge/Pierce from Hillsboro (my hometown) were solid red with the old rotating light bars. I have some pics of them in a homecoming parade probably in 1989. Ill see if I can dig them up and scan them to put them on here.
Also at that time period the 2 story addition was not there. Just the one story bays to the north, and there was a room for the fire/police dispatcher. I havent been to Hillsboro in many years. Did you get a tour of the station? Do you know what they do with the 2nd story? Did they put a pole in?
Did you by chance get to Litchfield? I am always curious as some of these towns seem to squirrel away old equipment. I am curious if Litchfield still has there collection of old ALFs and an old Seagrave in addition to their new KMEs.

StlFF34, I did get a quick tour thru the station and they put in a nice meeting room/day room and workout room up there. I do not remember if they had put a pole in or not. They are still doing the dispatch for the police which I found very unique.

Litchfield is on my list of departments to shoot as I work in Illinois during 2011.
Thanks all for viewing.

Another of my stops was at the Kinmundy-Alma Fire District and a big thanks to Chief Kevin Day for posing the rigs for me. I found this department to be very well equipped for the size of the towns they cover.

Here's just a tease of some classic suburban Chicago rigs that I'm in the process of scanning for my good friend John Tulipano. These pictures date back to the mid-80's when he first started photographing apparatus. A lot of the older stuff has no info so if anyone has the info feel free to share it.
