I will throw this out to the group....

Any chance that this is a rebuild of one of the three Metro Support Units that WMATA bought for COG about 30 years? They were designed to carry SCBA and extra SCBA cylinders; I can't remember if they were equipped with a cascade system and/or compressor.

Nope, this was originally on a 1971 Dodge 500 chassis and was obtained by Allegany County thru military surplus in the mid-1980's, it was rechassied in 1991 with the aforementioned IH N-series chassis. It has been stationed at Clarysville's Eckhart substation for its entire life.

The photo was taken in 1973 at the IAFC 100th anniversary parade in Baltimore. The LaFrance was privately owned by my father at the time. That is him behind the wheel. I would be the one on the officers side. I have the serial number around here somewhere if anyone is interested in it.

In the old days in Baltimore, "RS" was "Repair Shop".

Repair Shop is correct. This wagon carried pumps for flooded basements.

If I am not mistaken, it also carried spare hard tubes.
