MS Paint Anyone! Fire Apparatus Part III
Quote:If you just post credit to original artist.

Should be fine just to get this going

Actually, no, it's not fine. Posting "Credit to the original artist" says "I don't know who actually drew this, and I don't care. I'm using it anyway."

I realize that's almost never the poster's intention, but it's that "almost" that creates the issue. I (and numerous other long-time contributors to this topic) have seen many, many "new" drawings appear containing either a lot or a little of my own artwork. I have no issue with that as long as proper credit is given - but it's specifically the drawings contining elements of my artwork (and sometimes blatant copies, just re-colored) that suddenly re-appear over someone else's signature that have caused me to post less and less here. Never mind artistic integrity, this represents a lack of any integrity whatsoever. So my best advice is to do what I do . . . start with a blank screen every time and draw the entire apparatus yourself. Of course it's easier to cut & paste someone else's work - but you're not really learning anything, are you? Yes, your first efforts may be pretty bad. All of ours were, too. Rest assured that you can do it, and keep at it. Build a library of pieces, parts, cabs and bodies you like - then you can cut & paste from your own work. Also, it's entirely unneccesary to include "credit to myself" in a drawing. We assume that you drew at least part of it.

Didn't you?

Others may feel differently on this topic, and that's certainly their right. In any case, stop reading, and go draw something!

When I save a drawing that I plan on using down the road I immediately open it up and add the credits in the drawing itself (if they aren't already there). This way if I use it a year down the road I have the credits on it & I don't have to look back. It is tough & time consuming to try to keep track of everyone who ever contributed to a drawing, but it is necessary to credit them. As for adding yourself to the credits, I add myself to the end of all my drawings. The way I see it is that I had a hand in creating it, so like a painting or photo, I add my name to it. If I forget to add someone, I would hope that person, or someone else, would be nice enough to point it out. I have never maliciously omitted credit in a drawing & I would hope that no one else would either. I know that I'm not one of the origionals around here & those who have been doing this from the beginning deserve major kudos! Without you guys, I would have not gotten into this & this thread would not exist. Fyreline, you have some amazing drawings & it is really too bad that someone has taken advantage of your talent & willingness to share it with us. Same goes for KDWMAEMT & RIEMT, who 's name's pop up on almost every drawing on here. With all that said, I will get off my soap box & share some more drawings.

Lately I have been on a kick of drawing up some rigs from Northern Arizona. I'm still looking for some better photos to complete a couple rigs, but here are two that I have finished.

Ill drop one I did recently.

MAYBE a sign of something to come down the road for Peabody, MA Fire. They have put a bid out for a 100' steel tower ladder. If they continue to purchase along the lines of what they have for the last 2 engines, this 2011 KME Predator 100' midmount aerialcat is certainly a possibility.

I drew this based off of one my son's Matchbox trucks. It is a Colet K30 Jaguar. These things look like the fighter jets they protect. Being based soley from a toy the details are far from authentic so I used some imagination as to what I thought some of the features on the toy were supposed to be. If I forgot you, tell me I'll add you in, if I forgot you, I sincerely apologize. If you see your work and you do not speak up, you have no right to complain. This is your opportunity to add your name which I have no problem with.

My immediate first thought on this rig was that it looks like the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree of Fire Engines. Poor thing.
