That's sad to hear. I never was able to get a shot of it, shoved back in the corner like it was, but always hoped that they'd fix it up into a parade rig. It wasn't in bad condition, maybe a collector bought it.

I'm guesssing here, because I'm not a big ALF fan, but I believe it is a ALF 400 Series. I have a slide of it for Kettle Creek, PA. where they had sold it to. It was painted in their purple color.

Yes, the old ALF I was talking about was at Grapeville. It sat in a back corner of the station for years, so I never got a pic. It was a Type 500 or 600 (I think 600), but I'm not positive which and I don't have a pic to confirm which. Unlike the wide bodied 500 and 600 Series rigs, this one was a narrow bodied Type 500 or 600. I don't recall there being any chrome, so it could have been a war baby, making it a Type 600.

I posted this in the Keystone Relics Thread a long time ago. No sense in digging through the 100 plus pages. This is after they had sold it to Kettle Creek in Potter County, PA. I'd imagine they purchased it back from them. Interesting enough, when they sold this to Kettle Creek, they gave them the purple paint. Kettle creek painted their two x-military brush units the same color.

Any idea how long ago this was? Do you know the current status of the rig?

So, if I understand correctly, Grapeville sold this rig to Kettle Creek years ago, then bought it back? My first of several visits to Grapeville was around 1990, my most recent was right after delivery of Foam 21 in 2006. The old ALF was sitting there every time.

Per their Chief it is there. It was out being refurbed at the local college, but they had a heavy work load and it came back

Anytime Sir. I threw a post up on my Facebook asking where it had gone to lol. I was curious myself. Never knew it left and came back from Kettle Creek! I remember when I first saw the truck their member showed me the lettering on the door and how it was hand painted on.

The weather is finally starting to break!! Lets hope warmer weather, and sunny skies continue to follow. Today I was able to get out on my first trip of the year. There weren't too many places that we could dodge left over snow, so a couple of us photographers, thanks to the help of a friend headed to Delaware. 15 rigs photographed. A good start to the year. Thanks again for today Jeff! Here are just 3 of the rigs we photographed.
