Engine 38 was never assigned a Mack R model. I have a slide of the Undercliff unit dated 7/1982, and their are some minor differences between the Undercliff rig, and a Pittsburgh rig. The slide is pre-refurbishment. Are you positive this was purchased from the city, and not purchased new by the dept using the Pittsburgh spec?

gotta check. how many R's did Pittsburgh purchase in 1972-1974. I do not have Schmidt's book. I have 2 in early 72, 5 in late 72/early 73 and 6 in 1974. This one from Tennessee has several exact items that no other R's, but Pittsburgh had. one was the double reflectors on the front fender. second was the 4 spots in the drivers kickplate(under the door) for shore power and whatever else. they are in the exact same spot as on the PBG rigs, no other R's I have scanned have them like that in that configuration. might be a PBG spec rig tagged on. I do not remember where I got the unit designations from.
