LAFD T88 (Sherman Oaks) 2010 ALF 100' TDA. Shot them as they were backing in to assist in grafitti removal from a local landmark. City leaders thought it was too dangerous for the Parks & Rec Dept. Workers to remove the grafitti, so they had USAR TF 88 respond & do it.

So removing grafitti was too dangerous for parks & rec... Maybe the city should make cuts there instead of th fire department.

Recall seeing a blurb about it in the news. Due to the rough terrain (its on steep rock/hill)the USAR crew needed to rappel down and remove the graffiti with power tools.

Also noticed in book, LAFD spec'd out 2-150gpm High Pressure pumps only on some rigs, (Wagons?)and in addition to the 1500gpm on others (Pumpers?) - what were they used for (brush fires?).....was the main Pump 1500 and Wagons the 150gpm Hi-pres?



No matter how hard I try, I still can't understand all the designations......



I'm guessing the "Wagons" were the 2nd piece (now the 200-series associated w/ that Engine?) Ex- P9/W9 now E9/E209 ?

BUT the 50' Snorkels were know as Wagons too?

Tank Wagon? (Water Tender?) and so on..... confusing for us East Coast guys!

Some of the Crowns had 2 150 GPM Byron Jackson Hi Pressure Pumps while others had a 1250 GPM and a Bron Jackson. Let's take for example Station 22 which at one time had a Wagon and a Pumper, and they had one of each type. The station was originally built downtown so my guess was the department wanted to try something new or they felt the need high pressure pumps.

Back in the 60s and 70s, the department used to run 2 piece engine companies, the Wagon (W) and the Pump (P) which later became Engine X and Engine 20X. You can say Tank Wagon was another term for Water Tender for us West Coast folks or Water Tankers as they are commonly called. It gets more confusing since some companies (like Station 9) had a Heavy Duty Task Force

that had a Wagon 9, Pump 9 and Engine 209 and Truck 9



During the late 60's-early 70s the dept purchased some 50' Snorkels, Squrts and TeleSqurts and since they had a pump, tank and hose they were consider a triple (W or P) and designated as such.



Want it to be more confusing? Station 9 is in the Central City and ranks at the top in call volume. So E9 and E209 are fully staffed (4 each) and the Truck runs by itself.

It must not have been THAT hard of an area to get to, if someone was able to tag it. Unless USAR 88 came to help them <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stirpot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Come to LA and see how the taggers do it. Yes they have been known to dangle down from ledges, roofs etc and tag in places that make you wonder how they did it.



Also unless the Dept of Recreation and Parks, the Park Rangers (or General Services Police) or even General Services can do repelling (off the side of a cliff, down a steep ledge)then sure go ahead.



Besides, the politicians needed to make it look like the FD was proactive (or giving them busy work in front of the public). Besides it can be billed as a training exercise, I mean USAR has all the tools and technical knowledge so why not?.

Huh?. There was no rapelling involved Jack. The graffiti was at the very top of the rock.

The boxes are bolted down.
