Garden State Oldies
the tag on the front is a Great Eastern tag. Orens sold in New Jersey by Ernie Day were sold as Great Easterns. I dont know the particulars of why, but I'm sure someone on the board does.

Atlantic City had at least 3 of these of various years. I have this one as a slide marked 1974. I just had the slides pulled out to scan for someone in Brigantine. In 1985 when Lou Kelter shot them Engine 11 and Engine 24 both had 1967's and Engine 6 had a 1974.

My friend, that's Boonton Township, a separate municipality from the better known Town of Boonton. The township fire apparatus is red while the town's are Boonton's unique shade of cream color.

Regarding the City of Camden NJ, a city that has been in economic decline for many years (decades actually), with a high fire and crime rate, recently laying off many of its firefighters and police officers. Some politicians on the state level think that the way to resolve the problem is to merge all of the municipalities of Camden County into one as most of the other towns and townships are quite well off, some very wealthy with large tax bases and low fire and crime rates. Obviously many of those places are not happy about this proposal but it might be forced upon them.
