I just found out today that Berkeley has recently taken delivery of a new aerial platform that will replace the present 3615. Does anyone know if it's another Smeal? If not a Smeal then what???
Any info and pics would be appreciated.
3612 is a 105ft Smeal.
I found this in the Berkeley council minutes, dated March 21, 2011: Bill #4115 – An Ordinance Of The City Of Berkeley, Missouri, Authorizing The City Manager To Enter Into And Execute The Attached Agreement With Smeal Fire Apparatus – 3rd Reading Clerk Pittman read Bill #4115 by title only. Councilwoman Mathison made a motion to adopt Bill #4115. Motion seconded by Councilwoman Calton. ROLL CALL: Councilwoman Verges – yes; Councilwoman Calton – yes; Councilwoman Hoskins – yes; Councilwoman Mathison – yes; Councilwoman Montgomery – yes; Councilman Deinbo – yes; Mayor Watson – yes; MOTION PASSED. BILL #4115 IS HEREBY PASSED AND ORDINANCE #3982 IS ASSIGNED TO SAID BILL. Not sure if this is for the platform you mentioned, or perhaps they're getting something else from Smeal as well?

Gee, another Sirius cab. I'm not too crazy about those at all. Mehlville 1770, Hazelwood 4115 and 4125, and now Berkely 3612. All of these rigs would look 100% better with the Spartan Classic cab. Just my 2 cents, though.
3612? Why not keep it 3615? Thanks for posting the pic!

Courtesy of Firefighter Clay Lively -BFD-
Is that going to fit anywhere before the new station opens?
I'm guessing that they'll wait to put it in service when the new Station 1 opens soon, as right now it's stored at their Public Works facility, from what I've been told.
It's currently residing in their House 1. Crews have been training on it. Im waiting to hear back on some specs. But it was a stock unit that had additions made to it. It has the Ergonomic Hose Load, like we have downtown. Honestly, it's a large truck for a town that has very tight and narrow streets. Get your shots of this truck early, as it won't look this good for much longer.
This rig will be running a lot of EMS calls up there. Too big of a truck to be running like that. But unfortunately that's how it is for several departments/districts in the St. Louis metro area, running 100-footers and then some on all kinds of still alarms and EMS calls. Too bad we don't have dedicated truck companies so these rides don't get the wear and tear (and dents and scratches!) on them so quickly, except for fire calls. Then again, I like the ladder tender concept like out west, so that the big guns don't run on all the piddly crap!
2011 105' smeal/spartan aerial, 300 gallon tank, it's the first in the county to have battery power hurst tools.
seen city's new pumper 28 today going east on watson from lindbergh good looking truck <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Does anyone have any photos of the St. Louis shops? That looks very very cramped to me.
